As a special service to our parents, Blue Elephant Daycare will transport children to and/or from the neighborhood schools to the daycare at a minimum fee. This service will be based on availability. In order for a child to take part in this program, parents MUST complete, sign and date a TRANSPORTATION PERMISSION FORM. Where a child is transported in our daycare vehicle, child seating and restraint systems are in place as per Highway Traffic Act. As of September 1, 2006, it is mandatory to ensure children are properly secured in either a booster seat or child seat. Booster seats are required for children under the age of eight years weighing more that 18 kg but less than 36 kg (40-80 lbs) who stands less than 145 cm (4 feet 9 inches) tall. The booster seat is installed according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. The seat must be certified by Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMSS). The middle of the child’s ear should not be above the back of the vehicle seat, headrest or booster seat. Parents to provide us with a personal car seat for your child that is weight and age/height appropriate as well as meeting the CMSS. Car seats can be taken home on weekends or on a daily basis if required. A licensed school mini van with proper insurance coverage exists. Blue Elephant Daycare Inc., its directors, officers and employees will not be held responsible for any claims, damages or other liabilities for injuries caused by an accident to a child which are not a result of negligence of Blue Elephant Daycare Inc., its agents, directors, officers and its employees, or are not entirely beyond the control of Blue Elephant Daycare Inc., its agents, directors, officers and employees.


During inclement weather conditions if the Dufferin Peel District and Catholic School Board cancels bussing, our policy is to follow their decision and cancel bussing too. The following radio stations will report bus cancellations ie: CHML, CKOC, CFRB and CHWO. Our voicemail at Blue Elephant Daycare will also state if bussing is cancelled due to bad weather conditions. For the safety of our drivers and for your children, we adhere to the Peel Board bus cancellation policy. The daycare remains open.
